How Obama Did It!!!!!!!!!!

The Methods &Implications of the Obama Campaign!!!!!

Afther carefully read Obama's online pdf file "How Obama Did It", I've really admired his strategy of winnning the hearts of the Americans. The Obama campaign was built around a social network and used social technology. The Obama campaign dominate the media with numerous techniques by building an ultimate online political machine by nourishing it with rich- media content. The campaign created an Obama website call "MyOB" where his supporters could comment on and have a reply message back.MyBO had more than one million user accounts and 75,000 local events. On MyBO, visitors use credit card to make donations, allows supporters to set up their own target, run their own fund raising effort, and watch personal fund raising thermometer rises. The Obama campaign used SMS, phone tools, web capacity " Teachout events". They also creates social- networking sites such as facebook and myspace. While the competitor's campaign was refusing small amount of donations from Americans, Obama campaign was accepting any amount.

  1. I agree... Obamas biggest advantage over his opponant Jhon McCain was probly his use of the internet to campain. McCain had no knowledge of how to opperate a computer at all, let alone the internet and thats just somthing that should be expected from the president.

  2. It's true that Second Life is a good leisure- time game and it's also true that it has some benifit that is not expected in the first place. However, we should also realize that it can also influenced people in a way that's not so good. Some people become stuck into this imaginagy world and neglected their real life.

  3. I agree with the fact that using the new technologies such as the internet and the text messaging is a very good idea in terms of running a campaign like Obama did or working on a big project where the help is needed. However there are negative things in technology because people tend to send text messages constantly and using the internet not to do other things because it disconnects us from the real world, there should be a limit.

  6. I agree 100%, Obama had a big advantage over John McCain for the election, because of his use of social networking. One of McCains flaws was he had little knowledge about using a computer he didnt even use email prior to the compaign

  7. It is a major problem that no one is in charge. Many negative things occur due to this.
It is true that children just "took over" the internet. That also is different to the "normal" societal culture, meaning parents are used to being in chare and now "the tabbles get turned".

  9. It's interesting that Obama used today's technology to get a hold of those who aren't watching their TVs or reading the newspapers. It's a tool that he readily used in his campaign. He admired the population that is completely behind their computer screens and not involved in the outside world, knowing that policies and certain decisions will affect those individuals as well.
